Friends...
A co-worker and good friend of mine came over with her girls last week for a play date for Ellie. With all the snow we have been getting, we have had a major case of cabin fever. The kids had such a great time with each other, and Reid loved watching every move that the girls made. Before our company even left, Ellie was asking me when they could come back to play again. I have a feeling....very soon. Thanks for such a good time, Sarah and Grace!!!! (and come back real soon!!!!)
Kitchen renovation.....a.k.a.....The Big Mess!
The one area in our house that we haven't touched since we moved in 7 years ago is our kitchen floors. They don't really look so bad in these photos....but they are pitted and gouged in many places and really needed to be re-done. So....here is the mess that we are in the midst in right now. Above you will see the before pic of the eating area in our house with our old linoleum.
Another before pic....here is the main kitchen area and the hallway leading to our 1/2 bath and laundry area (straight on).
Here is our entranceway into the house with the same flooring. All of this will be replaced.
Subfloor.....and no more linoleum. Step one....oh, and by the way....the kids can't be on any of this. Makes for an interesting evening. I have been camping out with the kids at my parent's house for the past 2 nights (thanks Mom and Dad!) because I haven't had school with the MASSIVE snow that we have here. It's always something, isn't it???
Bare bones....getting ready for the tile to be laid.
WE HAVE TILE!!!!! Well, some at least. Getting there little by little.
Looking nice.....not complete with the grout yet. That will be tomorrow's job. Notice, no appliances in our kitchen.....that's because....
THEY ARE IN OUR LIVING ROOM!!!!! I think Brian is contemplating keeping the fridge in the living room.....he likes this feature of not getting up to grab a snack. I have informed him that we ARE moving the appliances back. I am anxious to get my kitchen and living room back to normal. What a week it has been.....more updates to come later. Now you see why I have not updated the blog in awhile. My head is still spinning! More updates to come soon.......

Fairy wings for 2
Ellie's favorite gift for Christmas were her fairy wings. She was SOOOO excited to get them. She wears them all the time...takes them to the sitter....always wears them. And now, as you see....she is also dressing her brother in them. I am sure Reid will be thrilled with this post when he is older. Just thrilled, I am sure!

Ellie's Pick
Tonight, my in-laws took Reid so we could get out of the house a bit (cabin fever) and enjoy a night out with Ellie. We had her pick the fun for the evening....so here was our night!
Ellie was soooo excited to pick her special place to go have fun. Can't you see that little sparkle in her eye???

Perfection
I've noticed lately that Ellie is REALLY starting to want to do well on everything she tries. Maybe it's an age thing....I hope so! She gets REALLY mad if she does not win in every game she plays or does not perform a task perfectly in her mind. As you can see in this picture....she wants to color...and she wants to do it right!

A weekend at Grandma and Pappy's!
I LOVE our family!!!!! My mother and father in law wanted to have Ellie overnight on Friday and kept her all day today so I could get some good ole' house cleaning done....and they could "play!" Ellie couldn't wait for the time there WITHOUT REID! She likes her "alone" time when it comes to going to the Grandma's houses!!!!! So, here are some highlights of her great time!
Pap Pap and Ellie were busting out some tunes on the piano! They adore each other! Just think, there is an age gap of 93 years in this picture between the two of them!

Pap Pap and Reid
We spent some time with Pap Pap tonight (and Grandma and Pappy, too!) We got a lot of snow today...I am not exactly sure how much in total....but LOTS according to Ellie. This evening we were able to drive down the street to their house for dinner and "play time". I think this is a pretty sweet picture....(thanks, Grandma Carol!!!)

Ellie's Turn!
I need to give fair share to Ellie...so here are my top 12 2008 pictures of my sweet, high-energy, stong-willed, independent, loveable, Ellie! Of course, I will share my "I'm Thankfuls," too! Here goes!
January 2008- I'm thankful she became so much more independent! She wanted to begin dressing herself (as you will see her style choices in the above picture!), and I was all for that! With Reid being a newborn...I was so pleased that she wanted to be the big girl! I always remember seeing people with multiple kids and some would be all in mismatched clothes and maybe wearing winter boots in July....I would always tell myself that I would NEVER let my kids go out in public like that. Really???? HA! How funny is that...I could care less if she was wearing a leotard and Batman wings out in public...as long as she did it herself and helped me out....I am a happy camper!

February 2008- I am thankful for family love and togetherness!
March 2008- I am thankful that Ellie will about try anything once!
April 2008- I am thankful that Ellie takes time to stop and enjoy what life is really about.
May 2008- I am thankful that Ellie "bubbles" with personality....always!
June 2008- I am thankful that Ellie makes those around her smile. How could you not?
July 2008- I am glad Ellie always finds her "own" way of doing things!
August 2008- I am thankful that she loves to be outdoors just doing kid things!

Top 12 of 2008....
Ok, I am totally admitting this. KRISSY ( http://jon-krissy-drew.blogspot.com/) had the BEST idea on her blog...and I am TOTALLY stealing it from her. (Krissy, I hope you see it as sharing!) I just absolutely loved this. She took one picture for each month of the year for 2008 and posted a picture that was a favorite. I had so much fun (and so many memories came back at me) that I decided to post something for each month that shows the progress that Reid has made over 2008. I will then go back and post my top 12 of Ellie, too...because I have to be fair, naturally! I am thankful for so much as I look back over our year of many adventures. Below each picture, I will note something from that month that I am so thankful for. It's been a journey.....and I have a feeling that the ride is just beginning! Hang on to your hats folks...and thanks for being there each step of the way. Here's to a new start...a new year....Happy 2009!
January 2008 - I'm thankful that Reid could actually hold his Reflux to a minimum for me to get a picture of his shirt with no bib in the way! You won't see too many "bare" shirt pics from our house!

February 2008 - I'm thankful for steri-strip tape...much better than what the hospital gave us to tape the NAM with. Just ask Brian!
March 2008 - I'm so thankful the NAM did its job. What a great progression Reid's lip made from so early on by using the NAM.
April 2008 - I'm thankful for absorbant bibs. Trust me, you have no idea!
May 2008 - I'm thankful for an amazing surgery team that won our hearts from the very start. They gave us a miracle.
June 2008 - I'm SOOO thankful that those horrible stents are done with. But, I admit...they did their job well. I just didn't know if I would make it through that process.
July 2008 - I'm thankful for friends who stuck by us every step along the way. We were enjoying great company on this day and some pool time with some friends. It was Reid's first experience with a pool.
August 2008 - I'm so thankful for my family. I can't tell you how blessed I am to be married to Brian. He was amazing and was my backbone during this whole ordeal. Ellie was a champ and grew up very quickly (I felt) because she had to be the "big girl" so often when we weren't around. I am so blessed to have my parents and in laws close by. They were our rock. Love you all so much!
