Looking for advice!
It's Ellie's mom posting today for a moment.
I am looking for any advice on gassiness and crampiness in infants. Reid is 4 months now, and really struggles with gas. In fact, he is up many nights screaming for an hour at a time and gets up several times doing this. Then, he will get rid of some gas...and is good for awhile. He is already on Zantac for reflux (and I go to the dr. on Wed. to see if it needs to be upped) and he is on Miralax daily for consitpation/gassy issues. Ellie never had this issue because I nursed her, and things all seemed to just fall into place for her. Reid...not so easy. He is on Soy formula and has been since 2 weeks of life. He drinks from a Haberman and doesn't have any issues with it. He sleeps in a car seat still because I think it is easier on his reflux issues to be upright a bit. He burps well and spits up constantly. I also have a nice warm heat pack type thing that is soft and helps soothe him if I put it on his belly from time to time....other times, he hates it. He loves to be walked around the house...but I just can't do it for hours on end with little sleep! I know many of you are not doctors that read this....but many of you are moms!!! And...many of you are cleft moms who may have dealt with this yourselves. I know that cleft kiddos have issues with air getting in and so on...but whew...this is pretty awful. He was up 5 times last night...2 times to eat...and 3 times to scream in pain for an hour each time. Then, trying to deal with a 3 year old besides is quite interesting to say the least. Today, Ellie went down for her nap at 2...and Reid got up at 2:10! Ahhhh...no nap for Mommy! So if anyone has ANY advice...I would love to hear it! Thanks in advance. I know many of you have gone through this before and I keep telling myself...this too, shall pass! Thanks for the help!!!!!

Hello, and welcome to my page! I am so glad you are here. I am going to try and show you the average life of a 5 year old from my perspective. Mommy and Daddy will help me along the way if I get stuck.
Let me first introduce my family to you. I am Ellie. I am a 6 year old. I live in Ohio with my Mommy, Daddy, little brother Reid, and dog, Sophie. My mommy is a teacher. She teaches nine and ten year olds and loves it. She has been teaching for twelve years. My daddy works with computers. He works hard everyday.
We all love spending time together. I have wonderful grandparents and a terrific extended family. I am a very lucky girl. Thank you for visiting my page. Write to me any time. I love getting mail!!!
Many blessing to you all.
Love,
Little Ski (Ellie)

Sorry....I have no advice, but I do know and feel your pain. At 9 months old (and still on the Haberman-even after palate surgery), Adalynn still has gas issues. She even gets breast milk, so you would think it wouldn't be too bad. Good luck, stay warm, and if you do find some magic trick, be sure to share the wealth!
I saw a friend of a friend of mine giving her daughter watered down 7-up in her bottle. If I remeber correctly the baby was around Reid's age. I thought it was strange, but she seemed to think that it worked. I am glad to hear of Reid's progress with the NAM. All of the hard work you and Brian have been doing is paying off!
