Reid- update

It's Ellie's mom sitting in today for Ellie.

Whew...what a couple of days. If you are on my e mail list, you already know this...but the Nam is doing its job. Reid's lip has moved a considerable amount. In fact, his left side is at 5 mm (where it needs to be) and his right side is at 12 mm. We started this process 8 weeks ago and his lip was measured at 25 mm. He has done remarkably well through all this considering. We are so proud of the little man!

Now....we have just had a HORRIBLE week. I am going to vent...so watch yourselves. Just crankiness, gassiness, fussiness, spitting up lots, crying all the time, not able to put him down, screaming for hours at night, screaming for hours during the day, walking around the house, and walking, and walking, and anything else I could think of. Well, today was Reid's 4 month wellness check up. I couldn't wait for it to get here. I knew deep down...something was wrong. Yep....here we go again. Double MASSIVE ear infections. Our doctor said they were really bad this time. Reid just got off his medication about a week ago...and they are back in full force. So, we are trying a stronger antiobiotic. If they are back again in a week....we will be moving to a shot for 3 days to knock this. Poor guy...maybe this explains a bit of how cruddy he was acting this week. Then, we talked about Reid's reflux. It is really bad. It took me about a hour to feed his this morning. It is frustrating..because he is hungry...but it hurts him to eat. It is obvious. He arches his back and just SCREAMS for the entire feeding. So, we discussed options. OUr pediatrician is taking Reid off his Zantac and moving him to Prevasid (spelling???). I guess this is much stronger and should help his pain and his sleeplessness. We will see. This should be interesting because it is a melt away that I stick on his tongue. Wish me luck on this one! I only have to give it once a day...which is nice. Ahhh...then his Miralax was upped to 2 tsp. a day to help relieve the gassiness. We hope anyway. Again, we will see what happens with all this. We go back in 2 weeks to check on things. No shots today due to the infections. That will come later. I just want my happy baby back. I can't do many more of these nights of 3 2 plus hours of unending screaming. It is wearing me down....fast.

Ok....now to the stats. Reid was weighed and measured, of course. The little man weighs 15 pounds, 12 ozs. which puts him in the 61% for weight. He is 26 in. long which puts him in the 80% for height, and his head circ. was 41 cm which was the 40 something %. So, he is in good shape as far as measurements go. Just keep our family in prayer. I keep telling myself that I am not the only one in the history of the world who has gone through something like this...but I am exhausted. I am lucky to get a few hours of sleep, and then have to put on my happy face in the morning for Elile. It has not been easy at all. Thanks again to all of you who have helped me with child care and your love for us. You have helped is SO many ways. We would be LOST without you. Ellie appreciates you all....Reid does, too....and I REALLY do!

Well, enough for today. Another update to come soon. I am off to try and feed Reid. Wish me luck.....
